Dozens of entrepreneurs and their supporters gathered Thursday to crow about Reno’s Startup Row.
They were at the Reno Collective to celebrate a number of firms that have been born, grown up, stayed and hired in Reno. Because many taken offices near the Collective’s hub at Arlington Towers, the area is known as Startup Row.
Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval was among Thursday’s speakers. He said it’s all about the ecosystem.
“You can feel the energy in this room,” Sandoval said. “Somebody in this room is going to start one of the next big things that will change the life of Nevadans.”
Other speakers hailed Reno’s attractive quality of life and collaborative spirit in getting Startup Row to flourish.
“Startups are betting on Nevada,” said Mike Kazmierski, drawing a comparison between tech entrepreneurship and Reno’s legacy gaming industry. All the action will lead to more tech jobs around Reno, said Kazmierski, who is president and CEO of the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada.
